Canada

The 2020 World Congress theme ‘Prevention in the Connected Age: Global solutions to achieve safe and healthy work for all” highlights the power of diversity and how different cultures and backgrounds can come together to overcome challenges.

In Canada, diversity is our strength. We understand that a collection of differing opinions is not a weakness, but rather an opportunity. This is why living in this connected age presents us all with a chance for positive change.

Canada is proud of our progress in improving working conditions for Canadians. We look forward to sharing our experience, and to hearing about yours, in a unique forum that will strengthen global prevention efforts.

Canada was among the founding members of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1919 and hosted the ILO administration during the Second World War in Europe. Today, 100 years later, Canada joins with more than 180 countries in the commitment to the ILO principle that governments, workers and employers participate equally in shaping safety and health at work.

On behalf of the entire health and safety community in Canada, workers, employers, government and researchers, we look forward to welcoming you to Canada in 2020 and to your participation in the 22nd meeting of the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.

To better understand and appreciate Canada’s diversity, visit the federal government’s website and learn more about Canada’s identity and society.
