Prevention in the Connected Age: Global solutions to achieve safe and healthy work for all
The World Congress is a crucial global forum for the exchange of information and opinion by experts in safety and health, representatives of companies and employees, decision-makers from government and public authorities, social partners, and anyone active in the area of occupational safety and health.
The Congress Programme will be dynamic and interactive, showcasing experts, thought leaders and innovators from around the globe covering the following main topics:
- Innovations in Addressing Longstanding Safety and Health Challenges
- Implications of the Changing World of Work for Occupational Safety and Health
- Advancing a Culture of Prevention
Join us for the Opening Ceremony which will kick off the World Congress in the afternoon on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. All Congress delegates and registered accompanying persons are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception that follows. This is an excellent networking opportunity for you to further your relationships amongst the safety and health community.
Keynote Speeches and Technical Sessions
Keynote Speeches by world renowned international speakers will introduce you to the main topics of the World Congress 2020. Technical Sessions will further illustrate the three main Congress topics to provide you with a deeper understanding of the global safety and health at work issues.
The symposia will reflect the topics that are currently most pressing in occupational safety and health around the globe. Get involved in the discussions, contribute your own experience, and benefit from new observations on key prevention issues.
Participants who wish to present a paper, project, or case study during a symposia session were asked to submit an abstract between September 15, 2019 and January 15, 2020. The abstract submission process is now closed and all abstracts are now being reviewed. All selected speakers will be notified late Spring, 2020.
The Poster Presentations will take place in Connection Hall. Connection Hall provides a central hub for connecting with ideas, people, questions and solutions. The Hall will include posters that are clustered together in a way that enhances presentation, discussion and dialogue. Posters can be in any of the four Congress languages, but please note that interpretation will be not provided.

Young Worker Spotlight
Building on the SafeYouth@Work Congress held in Singapore in 2017, the Young Worker Spotlight will be a lively, interactive session designed to spur global action to improve OSH for young workers. Youth champions from Canada and around the world will join with policy-makers and experts to share knowledge and experience and offer new insights to inspire action in tackling this challenge. During the session, participants will work together to co-create priority actions. These priority actions will reflect and inform a global approach to improving occupational safety and health for young workers.
International Safety and Health Exhibition
The International Safety and Health Exhibition is held in conjunction with the Congress. Over 200 exhibitors are expected to showcase their latest products, innovations and developments in safety and health. The Exhibition will be open for the duration of the Congress. All delegates and trade visitors are welcome.

Technical Tours will allow you to experience key industries and occupational safety and health developments in the local area. The Technical Tours will take place on the afternoon of October 7, 2020 and are included in the Congress registration fee (subject to availability). More details on Technical Tours will be available in Spring, 2020.
Recreational and Cultural Tours
The 2020 World Congress also provides opportunities for participation in a variety of cultural and tourist activities. Once available, an overview of events and booking tours on offer will be online.
You are invited to attend our Canada Night on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Cultural performances and typical Canadian cuisine will give you a chance to experience Canada’s multicultural heritage while meeting colleagues from around the world and making new connections.
The Closing Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The Ceremony will summarize key highlights and outcomes from the XXII World Congress, and close with a handover ceremony to the next World Congress host.
Throughout the Congress there will be an emphasis on making connections between topics, delegates, and areas of expertise in order to advance our global vision of safety and health work for all.
