What is the status of the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work?
The XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work has been postponed to September 19 – 22, 2021.
Why has XXII World Congress been postponed?
Following public health guidance on the evolving COVID-19 situation, the International Organizing Committee has taken the difficult decision to postpone the XXII World Congress. This is being done to ensure the health and safety of all.
I understand that there will be a virtual meeting focused on COVID-19 in 2020 – where can I find more information?
Yes – given the impact of COVID-19 on workplaces around the world, the IOC has also decided to convene a virtual meeting of global thought leaders focused on COVID-19 on October 5, 2020. More information about this meeting and how to participate will be posted to the Congress website in the coming weeks.
Accommodations and Travel
Will my hotel room reservation be cancelled?
If you have made a hotel room reservation within the official block of the Congress partner hotels which include the InterContinental, Fairmont Royal York, Sheraton Centre and the Chelsea Hotel, please stay tuned. We are working with these hotels to confirm room availability and rates for 2021, and we will provide an update soon. Be sure to check back on our website for more information. Will my airfare be refunded?
Please contact your travel agent/airline and let them know you are cancelling or modifying your booking due to the postponement of the XXII World Congress in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The responsibility for airfare bookings and refunds falls outside the scope of XXII World Congress and will be dependent on the type of fare booked, the airline’s or agent’s own cancellation/rebooking policies regarding COVID-19, and any travel insurance coverage.
I am planning to attend the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health in Toronto in September 2021 – can I simply transfer my registration fee to the new Congress?
Yes. Your registration will be transferred at no cost to the Congress now taking place from September 19 – 22, 2021. In September 2020, you will receive an email confirmation with your new registration information.
If you are unable to join us in September 2021, you may request a refund by June 5, 2020.
Please note that:
- Refund requests received after June 5, 2020 will not be accepted.
- All refund requests must be made in writing by email to the Congress planner at email@example.com or by mail. Refund requests by phone will not be accepted.
- Refunds could take 6 – 8 weeks to be processed.
- A refund will forfeit the 2020 rate you received, and registration rates for September 2021 are subject to change.
Can I transfer my exhibit fee to the new World Congress dates?
Yes. Your exhibit fee from XXII World Congress will automatically be transferred to the new World Congress dates (September 19 – 22, 2021). As such, the exhibit fee will remain unchanged and we will guarantee your booth location as per this year’s floorplan. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Will I have to resubmit my abstract next year?
No, you will not be required to re-submit your abstract. There will be new timeframes for advising speakers and poster presenters. These details are being worked out, and we will update you as soon as possible. Please email email@example.com if you have any questions.
